Freeform Bobbin Lace

Using basic bobbin lace techniques, Sally will lead you in creating an individualized leaf shape that can be used as jewelry, accents or in a picture frame.  If you know the basics of bobbin lace, you can fill any shape.  We'll play with adding twists for veining and changing grounds for shading.  Class fee includes bobbins, thread and mini-bolster pillow.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must know basic bobbin lace movements including lattice stitch, cloth stitch, and pin stitch.
Materials Included: Includes pins, thread, wire, pillow and bobbins
Instructor: Sally Brandon
Instructor Bio: Sally is the Artist in Residence at The Shepherd's Mill. Her love for weaving is in her genes but was further enhanced when she traveled to Finland as a 4-H exchange in the 80's where she learned Bobbin Lace from her host grandmother. She has spent the last 17 years running a small textile mill and is now enjoying more weaving and teaching. She lives in the community where she grew up, is married to her high-school sweetheart who is a minister and a fourth generation farmer. Shi is also busy trying to keep up with a pre-teen daughter and a teenage son.
Class includes mini-bolster pillow and 12 pair of bobbins
